Born in Fortaleza (Brazil) in 1992, Caio Facó graduated in music composition at the Universidade Estadual do Ceará - under the guidance of composers Alfredo Barros and Germán Gras - and completed his master's degree at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, under the guidance of composer Borges-Cunha. Facó is currently a PhD student at the same institution, under the guidance of Professor Borges-Cunha. His catalog of works - which include solo, vocal, chamber music, orchestral and concertante pieces - has been acclaimed in several countries. He has orchestral works performed by the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais and the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro, and chamber pieces played by the Mivos Quartet (USA) and the International Contemporary Ensemble (USA). He was awarded in several competitions, like the International Composers Competition, held by the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, the FUNARTE Classical Composition Award and three times finalist of the Festival Tinta Fresca, the largest composition competition of symphonic music in Brazil. In addition, he works with the Chamber Orchestra of Valdivia (Chile), and Ensemble MPMP (Portugal) as an associate composer. In 2018, he received a commission from the OSESP Foundation (São Paulo Symphony Orchestra) and wrote Cangaceiros e Fanáticos - for string quartet - premiered by the OSESP String Quartet and Emmanuel Pahud as guest soloist. Facó was also a Fellow of the Winter Festival of Campos do Jordão, where he conducted one of his works in Sala São Paulo. With a work strongly influenced by elements of Brazilian culture, combined with a rich expressiveness, resulting from colorful harmonies and refined orchestrations, Facó establishes himself as one of the most important Brazilian composers of his generation.
