Dániel Dobri is a young multi-award-winning composer, artistic director and university lecturer. His work exhibits a wide range of genres and styles as evidenced by his contemporary orchestral and chamber music, theatre music, opera, ballet and choral works. He is an active figure of Hungarian and international concert life: his compositions have been played by many orchestras and ensembles such as Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Danubia Orchestra Óbuda, Orchestra Sinfonica 131 della Basilicata, in prestigious festivals, theatres and concert halls like Romaeuropa Festival, CAFé Budapest, Palace of Arts Budapest.

He graduated from Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest as the disciple of Prof. Gyula Fekete and Prof. Zsófia Tallér. In 2020 he earned a master’s degree in composition with an excellent grade and he is currently a doctoral student at the University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest. Since 2020 he has attended many composition and opera writing course of Peter Eötvös Foundation, where he studied from Peter Eötvös, Unsuk Chin, Gregory Vajda, Stefano Gervasoni, Ramon Lazkano and Robert HP Platz. In addition to composing Dobri considers education and historical research to be a significant facet of his output. In 2024 he became a composition lecturer of Franz Liszt Academy of Music.
He has been working as musical supervisor at various Hungarian theatres since 2009. He permanently works together with the greatest Hungarian directors, choreographers, dancers, actors and actresses (Kornél Mundruczó, Tamás Juronics). He has composed the original score of more than 60 stage productions. In 2017 and 2018 he received a scholarship at Accademia d’Ungheria in Roma. During this period he presented his researches at Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia and his compositions were performed in the main concert venues of Lazio Region (Palazzo Braschi, Palazzo Falconieri, Casa Natale di Palestrina). Since 2018 he attended various composition competitions, his trio called States of Matter received the composition award of the Reconnections Program of Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. In 2018 he won the scholarship of Ateneo Musica Basilicata and his piece called Lamento (conducted by Carlo Goldstein) was performed at many concert venues in Italy. Within the framework of the Romaeuropa Festival two of his chamber operas (Un’altra Roma, Theatrum mortis) were premiered in Rome for two consecutive years (in 2018 and 2019). Since then Un’altra Roma is continuously performed in Italy, Serbia, Slovakia and Hungary. In 2020 with his composition called PentaTones for Orchestra Dobri was awarded by Péter Eötvös at the New Hungarian Music Forum (UMZF). Since 2021 he is the contemporary artistic director and composer-in-residence of Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra at Székesfehérvár, Hungary. In 2022 he founded the Sofianetta Festival and Zsófia Tallér International Composer Competition, in which he is one of the members of the jury. Since 2022 he is member of the Hungarian Composers’ Union. In 2023 he won the Artisjus Award ‘best young composer of the year’.
