Jaime Belmonte Caparrós is a Spanish composer and conductor based in Helsinki. His music is regularly performed in America, Asia and Europe and he works both as an independent composer and collaborating with different artists exploring transculturality, transdisciplinarity and new ways of expression using technologies.

At the moment he is finishing his Master's Degree in composition at the Sibelius Academy under the guidance of Lauri Kilpiö and has taken lessons with Pierluigi Billone, Aureliano Cattaneo, Stefano Gervasoni, Mark Andre, José María Sánchez Verdú, Giovanni Verrando, Alberto Bernal, Francisco López, Wolfgang Heiniger, Fabián Panisello, Marco Stroppa, Jukka Tiensuu among others. His music has been premiered in festivals like Ung Nordisk Music, Sibafest, Mixtur, SMCC and Tenso Days, by ensembles like Avanti, Zagros or Helsinki Chamber Choir.

He has participated in several academic programs like Ruta Quetzal in 2005, Tenso Workshop for Choir and Electronics in 2016 and Transcultural Collaboration in 2017. His music has been awarded in competitions like the 1st PAMPA residency and the 1st Witold Szalonek Composition Competition, and his artistic work has been supported by the Laura and Marketta Simes Foundation, the Martin Wegelius Foundation and the Sibelius Fund.

As well as composer, conductor and teacher, he is a very active choir singer and has been founder member of the platform for contemporary music Ineditio in Murcia (Spain). He has also been part of the board of the Korvat Auki society for young composers.
