Caterina Di Cecca is an Italian composer based in Rome.

She has received commissions by numerous institutions including the Ernst von Siemens Foundation, the Divertimento Ensemble, the Contrasts International Contemporary Music Festival, the Biennale di Venezia, the Ulysses Ensemble – Aldeburgh Festival, the World Exposition 2015, the Collegium Musicum Chamber Orchestra of Lviv, the Associazione Nuova Consonanza, the Riot Ensemble, the Stagione Rondò, the Festival Pontino, the Centro Culturale San Fedele and the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l'Arte, for which she was also Composer-in-Residence in 2015.

Awarded in many international composition competitions, recently she won the [‘tactus] Young Composers’ Forum – 7th edition (Mons), the George Enescu International Composition Competition 2016 – Section: Chamber Music (Bucharest), the Franco Donatoni International Meeting for Young Composers – IV edition (Milan) and the Biennale College – Music 3rd edition (Venice), that gave her the opportunity to write her first chamber opera, Funeral Play, staged in October 2016 at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale (Venice) during the 60th International Festival of Contemporary Music – Biennale Musica.

Her scores, selected in several international calls for scores and conducted among others by Jean-Paul Dessy, Sandro Gorli, Gregory Charette, Carlo Rizzari, Aaron Holloway-Nahum, Michele Gamba, Chino Toledo, Alessandro Cadario, Igor Dronov and Fabio Nieder, have been performed and programmed in Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, The Philippines, The Netherlands, Ukraine and USA by renowned ensembles and orchestras such as Neue Vocalsolisten of Stuttgart, Musiques Nouvelles of Mons, Ensemble Mosaik of Berlin, Divertimento Ensemble of Milan, Riot Ensemble of London, Ensemble Oerknal! of Utrecht, Ensemble Reconsil of Wien, Studio for New Music of Moscow, Ensemble Alternance of Paris, Ensemble Nostri Temporis of Kiev, Versipel New Music of New Orleans, Ensemble Metamorphosis of Belgrade, Lviv Virtuosos String Orchestra, Solisti Aquilani of L'Aquila and Tofarm Festival Orchestra of Manila.

She studied Composition at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Luciano Pelosi, completing her Master with highest distinction. From the same Institute, she had previously obtained a master’s degree in Piano.
In the meanwhile, she earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Philosophy, both magna cum laude, from the Università degli Studi di Roma Tre in Rome.
Then she improved her knowledge in composition following courses held by Alessandro Solbiati and graduating at the Master Course in Composition of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under the guidance of Ivan Fedele.
She had also a Master’s in Media and Lobbying in International and European Relations at the SIOI (Italian Society for International Organization) with a thesis on Personal Branding for Musicians.

Her music is published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni of Milan and it has been broadcast on Musiq3, RAI – RadioTre, RadiostART and Euroclassical.
