Nicolas Roulive was born in 1989 in Namur, Belgium (nobody's perfect!)

He started to study the piano at the age of 11. In 2007, he entered the Royal Conservatory of Mons, Belgium, where he graduated a Bachelor degree in 2010 with prof. Rosella Clini and prof. Thomas Paule.

After that, he decided to move to Paris to study composition; successively with prof. Eric Tanguy and prof. Edith Canat de Chizy; orchestration with prof. Anthony Girard, and further piano and chamber music studies with prof. Gwendal Giguelay and prof. Michel Maurer. (That was a great fun experience)

He is currently pursuing a Master degree in Composition with prof. Michael Jarrell, prof. Luis Naon and prof. Gilbert Nouno.

Now the typical things... :

Furthemore, he followed the lessons and masterclasses of Kaija Saariaho, Chaya Czernowin, Rebecca Saunders, Santiago Diez-Fischer, Dmitri Kourliandski, and Stefano Gervasoni among others.

He had the chance to take part in international festivals, where his music has been performed, such as : "CrossRoads" 2018 and 2019 in Salzburg (AU), "ManiFeste" 2018 and 2019 at IRCAM in Paris (FR), "Mixtur" 2019 in Barcelona (ES), "Archipels" 2020 in Geneva (CH), "" 2020 in Saint-Petersburg (RU) etc.

He has been working with musicians and ensembles such as : Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Proton-Bern, Ensemble Contrechamps, NAMES Ensemble, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Duo Enssle-Lamprecht, Marie Ythier (cello), Anna d'Errico (piano), Hidetaka Nakagawa (bassoon), Marie Mercier (clarinet) etc.

Nicolas also currently performs as a pianist and is one of the founding members of the new "Ensemble RIFF" in Geneva (CH).

What you would want probably to know the most (!) :

When not busy, he loves to play video games (Final Fantasy is one of the bests!), watching movies, wine (he was actually hesitating between studying music or being a sommelier), also petting unknown cats into street and gossiping.

Ah yes... almost forgot : he is an inconditional lover of chiptune music for an unknown reason.

For knowing how he works : no blabla, go soundcloud !
