Peng-Hui Wang was born in Tainan, Taiwan. She started her first bassoon lessons at the age of nine with Ms. Jhen-Jhen Guo, continuing from 1999 to 2006 at the Yeong-Fwu elementary school in Taiwan and the Da-Cheng Junior High School, where she also studied piano. From 2006 to 2009 she studied bassoon at the Tainan National University of the Arts of Taiwan with Ms. Jia-Hua Hsu. During those studies, Peng-Hui won the First Prize of the 2009 National Music Competition of Taiwan. After moving to Germany in 2009, she obtained her Bachelor at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart in 2015, followed by a Masters Degree in 2017 both with bassoon Prof. Marc Engelhardt.
In the winter semester of 2016/2017, she studied as Erasmus student at the CNSMD de Lyon with Prof. Carlo Colombo. Also in 2016, she won the Third Prize of both the Carl-Wendling Chamber Music Competition and the Lions-Club Chamber Music Competition, playing as part of a piano, clarinette and bassoon trio. During 2017/2018, she did the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie Master Programm at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main.
Peng-Hui has also had experience in orchestras through her Praktikum at the Philharmonic Heidelberg Orchestra during 2013/2014, by playing in the Württembergisch Chamber Orchestra of Heilbronn and Ensemble Modern Orchestra. She has also played in several festivals such as the Ile de ré festival « Musique en Ré » of 2012, Klangspuren Festival of 2016, Cresc. Biennale Festival of 2017, Claude Vivier Festival of 2018 and Impuls Festival of 2019.
