Litha Ashforth, coloratura soprano, is known for her “spellbinding” presence on stage. A recipient of numerous competitive honors, she has been distinguished in competition by the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation at the Music Academy of the West, the Maestro Award from World Strides Heritage Festival, and the New England Conservatory of Music’s Entrepeneurial Musicianship Grant.
Litha has been performing since her preschool graduation. This summer, she made her New York theatre debut as the starring role in "Order" at Here Arts, a notable off-Broadway venue. Her performances have extended to collaborations with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and appearances at venues such as the Tournament of Roses and Judson Memorial Church in NYC. This year she sang the role of Olympia in Offenbach’s "Tales of Hoffman," Adele in Strauss’ "Die Fledermaus," and Angelina in Gilbert and Sullivan’s "Trial by Jury. "
Her compositional work addresses ancestral memory, sacred dance, and the symbiosis of opera and technology. Collaborating with Jasmine Sinanan-Singh, a Ph.D. candidate at MIT's Quanta Group, she uses sensor-based technology and custom software for her stage performances.
