About
Luis Fonseca was born in Recife, Brazil in 1974. He graduated in Architecture in the Mackenzie University in Säo Paulo - Brazil in 1997 while studying Double Bass in the São Paulo Municipal school of music, where he could have harmony and counterpoint lessons by Prof. Mario Zaccaro and having private composition lessons with Prof. Sergio Colminatto.
He followed his Double Bass career to study in the Hochschule for Musik in Frankfurt am Main - Germany by Prof. Günter Klaus, where he graduated in 2003. He could also have composition lessons by Prof. Gerhardt Müller von Hornbach in the same school.
He was accepted later as Co-Principal Bassist in the Royal Theatre in Madrid - Spain, where he still works. While living in Spain, he made a post-graduation degree in Basel - Switzerland in Baroque Music by Prof. David Sinclair (2005 - 2007) and was Double Bass profesor in the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and in Salamanca (2007 - 2017).
He finally decided to study composition afterwards and he made it by Prof. Sergio Luque and Prof. Alberto Bernal in the CSKG center in Madrid where he graduated in 2014. He could also assist to open lessons from Alberto Posadas, Mesías Maiguashca, Enrique Tomás, José Manuel Berengher and Michael Beil. These studies were in the electronic field, but after all, learning computer assisted composition as well as algorithmic composition brought him to another way of composing, with and without electronics in his works. He finds himself developing new ways to generate music algorithmically and focus it on the production of sound with different algorithms, whether acoustically or electronically speaking, as well as the connection to its visual forming graphics.
He is nowadays studying a Doctor degree in the algorithmic composition field in the “Universidad Autónoma de Madrid” by José Luis Carles and Sergio Luque. His music has been played in Spain, Brazil, Germany, Australia, United States, Venezuela, Lithuania, Austria, Finland, Mexico, Switzerland and Italy.
