Chris Ruenes is a composer, guitarist and software developer based in Brooklyn. Chris studied composition and computer music at Columbia University, where he won departmental honors for his thesis composition, “RUPT URES”. He has worked on experimental scores for multiple films, including an electro-acoustic free jazz score for Tyler Walker’s “What a Beautiful World This Will Be”, an official selection at Palm Springs, Raindance and Slamdance.

Currently, he is working on two film scores, a requiem for violin and soprano, and a new commission for LIGAMENT, based on a poem by Rebecca Gray. On an ongoing basis, he is exploring asynchronism as a basis for polyphony, and generating both musical material and collaborative scenarios through recursive processes. He is also interested in the precise generative potential of mistakes, such as sonic artifacts and misconstruing algorithmic processes.
