Anders Krøger (b.1996) is a Norwegian composer born in Oslo, currently based in Leipzig.
He specializes in instrumental music with a focus on timbres, musical colors and melody. He has written solo pieces, chamber pieces and works for orchestras. Through cooperation with musicians and conductors he has composed a long list of works.

Anders Krøger started playing Cello from a really young age. As a musician he focused on the music from the romantic era and the 20th century. One can find traces of this music in his works. He uses ideas of our inherited musical history to develop personal and original music. With all the experience he gathers he tries to create new approaches to developing sounds, melodies and harmony. This results in a music that explores the position between the abstract and unknown, and the traditional. Krøger has a holistic view of his music. Every detail reflects the whole idea of the piece. The piece becomes a world in itself. His music doesn’t attempt to comment on its surroundings, rather exist as an independent entity.

His music has been performed in different places around the world; Tbilisi, Oslo and Stavanger to name a few. He has worked with ensembles like NMH Blåseakademi, Insimul, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and Asamisimasa. He has collaborated with conductors like Kai Myrann (NOR), Lars-Thomas Holm (NOR), Hannah Howards (DNK) and Leif Arne Pedersen (NOR). He has created a broad network with musicians and conductors from all over Europe. A lot of his pieces are realized with self-initiative, like gathering a whole orchestra, one by one, to perform his Violin Concerto “Ecko” (2018).
His works are a part of The National Library of Norway’s collection of contemporary scores.

He is engaged in the cultural society, especially in Norway. He has arranged multiple concerts to give the public a chance to experience contemporary music. He has also worked at Oslo Jazz Scene and in Oslo Concert House. In early 2020 he started a podcast discussing different aspects of music in Norway, as well as conveying light-hearted stories from music history. His passion is to let all people take part in the musical environment.

Anders Krøger got his bachelor degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music and is currently studying his master in Hoschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. His current and former mentors include Asbjørn Schaathun (NOR), Kaija Saariaho (FIN), Henrik Hellstenius (NOR), Trond Reinholdtsen (NOR), Clemens Gadenstätter (AUT) and Fabien Lévy (FRA).
