Alice Yeung is a composer, sound and interdisciplinary artist who was born and raised in Hong Kong, currently based in Den Haag, Netherlands. Yeung is keen on experimenting new possibilities and approaches of audience and performers within various dimensions, combining different colliding elements or music genres with friction and coherence. Her works range from orchestral music, electronic and chamber works for instruments, to experimental participation interdisciplinary works. She is currently initiating an artistic research on the theme of surveillance art, regarding online habit data tracking and daily-life privacy invasion.
After graduating from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with the first class honour of Bachelors Degree in Composition and Electronic Music, Yeung is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Composition under the supervision of Yannis Kyriakides and Jan van de Putte at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague as the nominee of the Excellence Scholarship.
Yeung’s music has been internationally featured in professional presentations across Europe and Asia such as Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Gaudeamus Nederland, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, November Music, Orkest de Ereprijs, Asko Schoenberg Ensemble, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Hermes Ensemble, ISCM New Zealand, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Calefax Reed Quintet, New European Ensemble, PROJECT21stHK, ICTUS Ensemble, Ligeti Quartet, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild, Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble, Hong Kong Power Orchestra, HKAPA Symphony Orchestra & Contemporary Ensemble, among others. Her work has been selected as one of the recommended work in the Under 30 Category of the 68th International Rostrum of Composers in Palermo, Italy, and won the New Composers Pitch Prize at the New Music Conference of November Music 2021 at ’s-Hertogenbosch, the selection of International Young Composers Academy in Ticino 2021 & 2022, Concerto Feasts 2021 at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
