Xinglan Deng is a young composer whose music has many theatrical elements in her music. She strives to fuse acoustic and electronic elements in her multi-faceted music.She graduated from the pre-college program at Shanghai Conservatory and holds a composition degree from Jacobs School of Music. Currently, she is pursuing her M.M. in composition from the Peabody institute of the John Hopkins University, where she studies with Du Yun.
As a composer, Xinglan has been commissioned by Spektral Quartet , Percussion, trombone ensembles at Jacobs School of Music.
As an electronic musician, she has presented pieces at festivals worldwide, including ICMC, SEAMUS, NYCEMF, IRCAM, and EMM.
