Billur Ongun's musical education began in 2006 at the young age of 10 at the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. In 2012, she continued her musical development at Bilkent University of Music and Performing Arts. Since 2017, she has been studying at the University of Music, Theater und Media Hanover with Prof. Jeroen Berwaerts, with whom she completed her bachelor's degree in 2022 and began her master's degree in the same year.

During her musical career, Billur Ongun has gained valuable experience in various orchestras and ensembles. In the 2022-2023 season she was an intern at the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra and during her studies she played as substitute in professional orchestras such as Hannover State Theater, Mannheim Philharmoniker, Göttinger Symphoniker, Bremen Philharmonic, Braunschweig State Theater, Bodenseekammerorchester. She has played in various orchestral projects at the festivals "Junge Künstler Bayreuth", "Young Euro Classics" and "Detect Classic Festival"

In 2014, she played the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto for the first time as a soloist with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra and later in 2016 with the Baskent Chamber Orchestra J.B.Arban's "Norma Variations".

In 2020 she was part of the 'Women Stars of Tomorrow' project of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Art and received a scholarship from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Since 2021 she has been a scholarship holder of the `Yehudi Menuhin Live Musik Now`. She was part of the TONALi Artepreneurship Scholarship in 2023.

In various masterclasses she had lessons by Prof. Reinhold Friedrich, Prof. Jeroen Berwaerts, Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk, Prof. Mathias Höfs, Manuel Blanco, Prof. Laura Vukobratović, Prof. Mark O`Keeffe and Prof. Klaus Bräker.

Billur Ongun is continuing her master's degree with Prof. Jeroen Berwaerts in Hanover.
