Wie der Wind in den Dünen, one of the most programmed string orchestra compositions of modern classical music, is characterised by a distinctive harmonic and rhythmic character, inconspicuous harmonic changes, and precisely graded dynamics. The work shows composer's aversion to overtly imposing own emotional and spiritual agenda on the listener.
