metAMORfosi for piano is inspired by the ancient myth of Cupid and Psyche told in the "Metamorphoses" by Apuleius. It is the story of the human soul and its journey to self-awareness through love. On this initiatory journey, Psyche must experience both the profane (which includes the experience of suffering and death) and the sacred aspect of love, a love that is born aphroditic and sometimes even warlike, and grows and develops until it becomes psychic. Only in this way can the soul expand its consciousness to include the totality of Being. Psyche loves, dies and rises to become divine and immortal again.
